Best Techniques to Get More Comments on Your Blog

Many new bloggers might be wondering how others manage to get so many comments on their blogs. There are certain factors that contribute to it. As we all know almost 90% of internet users just read or observe with 9% of the users contributing “a little” and the remaining 01% contribute actively. With that figures we now know that most probably only 1% of our visitors are likely to contribute.

I have done a bit of a research about the issue and found out the following techniques which can bring you surprising results if applied correctly and carefully.

  1. Content is “King” - Content is king! Make sure you posts are interesting and well written. Make the readers feel that they should express their view.
  2. Why not invite? - This is by the best method to get comments. At the end of each blog post invite readers to express their feelings about the article. More people are likely to comment in this way.
  3. Ask questions - This is another great technique you could apply. You could ask some questions to your readers within the post. Some people will definitely spare few moments answering the questions via comments. I would suggest the title of the post to be a direct question to make this technique more effective.
  4. Be Controversial - This technique itself is little controversial. I would not recommend to be “too controversial” however, this is simply a great technique to get the comments from the hardliners. Being too controversial could also be risky because there is every possibility that you are likely to loose some of your readers.
  5. Interact with comments left - I would strongly recommend to interact with your readers who comment on your blog. That will motivate them and are likely to comment again.
  6. Say “NO” to spam - Make sure your blog posts and comments are well moderated. No one would want to leave their comment next to a junk comment. Also do not allow “off-topic” comments which could certainly be very frustrating for your readers. Many people like blogs and comments that are moderated hard with strict boundaries.
  7. Make the blog user friendly -  Have a good design and a nice platform for commenting. Remember even spammers do not like craps.
  8. Leave comments on other blogs - Interact with fellow bloggers similar to your yours. Most bloggers will return the favor. In this way you are likely to get targetted traffic from other blogs that are relevant to yours.
  9. Offer subscription by email or rss to the comments: This another great technique that works very well. You will also notice an increase in return visitors in this way.
  10. Reward comments - Reward your readers with new, original and timely content so that they feel their investment in your site is worth it. You could either highlight the comment or draw a circle around so that other readers will pay little bit more attention to that particular comment. It does work!

Do you think those above techniques will work?? Express your view.
