SOPA Blackout – A List of Major Websites Taking Actions

Many of the Worlds top websites went dark on Wednesday (18 January 2012) to protest web piracy bills that are being debated in the United States House & Senate aimed at shutting down sites that share pirated movies and other content. Internet major players such as Wikipedia, Google, Reddit, and thousands other websites are taking part in the blackout. Their main concern fro them is Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) under consideration in the Senate, if passed, could be used to target legitimate sites where users share content. SOPA bill is widely criticized as threatening the freedom of speech and movement of information across the Internet. Get Organized
The first step in planning your social media marketing strategy for 2012 is to assess your resources. Who will be involved with social media? Who is doing it now? Who are your assets and liabilities? You’ll also want to spend some time listening to current conversations. What kinds of questions are prospects asking? Monitor competitors for comparison and opportunity.
In assessing your resources, consider what software you will use. Do you need a customer relationship management program to monitor social media? How will you track publishing, promotions, analytics, and engagement? Do you need an outside social media marketer to help you get started? Consider a freelance marketing consultant at least in the early stages, if you haven’t yet done social media marketing or if you want help developing a clear plan for the New Year. Google+ is a common word we keep hearing quiet often since mid 2011. But, what actually is Google+? What is it all about? I have talked about Google+ briefly in my previous posts here but, I would like to take a little in depth look at what Google+ really is.
