Since its launch a few days ago, iPad has been the most talked gadget currently. While it is beautifully designed and contains many useful features, I feel some key features are missing.

  • Camera – Omission of a camera in my opinion is a huge mistake. The iPad would be perfect for snapping and sharing photos with others, and for videoconferencing with friends and family.
  • Universal Mail Inbox - People with several email accounts would find a little frustrated by the lack of unified inbox. To view e-mails from another account, you have to back out of the inbox you’re viewing, then go to the other account’s inbox.
  • You can’t open a bunch of windows spread across the screen. You can’t  save files locally. The “Office” suite is lackluster for multi-document use. There’s no DVD drive.
  • Email Attachments Are Trapped in Your Mailbox – You can’t view any mail attachments outside the iPhone’s e-mail app. The same holds true for the iPad.
  • Built-in USB – lack of USB port is is another factor
  • Blown-up iPhone Apps Aren’t Anti-aliased – As you may already know, the iPad can run all existing iPhone apps; you can run them at their iPhone-size in the center of your screen, or blown up to fill the screen. Unfortunately, Apple does nothing to smooth out the apps, so text and images look chunky.
